What Is the Best Way to Start When I’m Thinking About New Window Coverings?Trust the window fashion experts at Dodds, we have been helping customers with their design choices for many years. Be prepared to answer lots of questions. If visiting our showroom, bring design ideas, photos, sizes of your windows and paint chips of your existing walls or the colours you plan on using. We have had customers bring in entire sofa cushions to help choose drapery fabrics! The more prepared you are, the easier the decisions will be. If you are starting from scratch, and have no idea where to begin, we can help get you started, but a visit to our showroom to see what is available and what you are drawn to will be the first step.

I Don’t Think I Have the Budget to Purchase Everything I Want. Can I Get It for Less?Window coverings can be expensive, but they don’t have to be! There are so many products on the market now, from very affordable roller or banded shades, to elaborate custom drapery. We always suggest spending the bulk of your budget on the rooms that are used most. That’s usually your living or family room, dining room and kitchen. The master often comes next, followed by the kid’s rooms and office. Leave the utility areas, basement and other secondary rooms until the end. Many clients will purchase in two stages, rather than settling for something they don’t love for their main areas just to meet their budget. We can help you break down areas of your home based on priority and function to make sure all of your needs are met.

What About Warranties?Dodds Interiors is very selective as to which manufacturers we carry. We look at quality, value, years in business and warranties. For us to sell you a product, it has undergone extensive research and scrutiny. We support and take pride in the brands we carry. If you choose to have your installation done by Dodds Interiors, we offer a one-year installation warranty. Manufacturer warranties vary from supplier to supplier, so you will need to inquire. Product warranties never cover installation, removal or shipping costs.

Why Do Prices Differ So Much From One Dealer to Another?When comparing products, you have to compare apples to apples. Just because a product looks similar, does not mean it is. There are so many aspects that are not visible that determine quality. Fabrics that look similar may not perform in the same way. Have they been tested for discoloration from UV light? How do they perform in cold climates, or on a humid July afternoon in southern Ontario? Do the mechanisms last pull after pull, or do they break after a few months of use and inconveniently need to be removed and sent back to the manufacturer...if they are still in business. Price and budget are important, and at Dodds we understand that. We also understand that getting a quality product that will last for many years is just as important.
